DOORS

What size door do I need?

We measure the same size as the finished opening of your garage.

What colors are available for my new overhead door?

Our color choices include white, sandstone, gray, almond, brown and hunter green.

Can I use my existing hardware with my new door?

No. Your new garage door has been manufactured with track, spring(s) and hardware to fit the door. The existing hardware may be too worn or not fit the new door.

Can my old garage door opener be used on my new door?

Yes and no. If your new door is the same size as the old door, you should be able to use your old opener, which we can re-hook for you. If your garage door size has been modified for a taller door, you will need a new opener. Since 1991, residential door openers have required photo eye switches, which reverse the door from closing when met by an obstruction (small child, toys, tools, etc.).

What type of spring(s) is included with my door?

For safety reasons, we only install doors with torsion springs.

Can I order parts for my door? What about replacement sections?

Parts are available for newer doors. Manufacturers might not have available all parts for older doors, but in some cases newer parts are compatible with the older doors. The same rule applies to replacement sections; we can order replacement sections for newer doors and have them delivered in two weeks. Keep in mind, though, that colors might not match up between the older and newer sections.

Does my door require maintenance?

Applying a lubricant to the springs and rollers are among the seasonal maintenance duties homeowners may do to improve the longevity of their door. Proper spring tension is also critical.

FENCE

Can I paint my ornamental fence?

We do not recommend painting the Bufftech Prestige ornamental fencing. Application of an oil-based paint to ornamental aluminum or steel fencing is acceptable, making sure you follow the paint manufacturers' recommendations for the preparation of the fence and the application of the new paint.

What maintenance does my vinyl fence need? What about my wood fence?

We do not recommend painting the Bufftech Prestige ornamental fencing. Application of an oil-based paint to ornamental aluminum or steel fencing is acceptable, making sure you follow the paint manufacturers' instructions. Wooden fencing may be treated the same as your wooden deck, by gently powerwashing/bleaching the wood, followed by the application of a wood preservative/sealer product or a wood stain (clear, semi-transparent or solid color).

GATE & ACCESS SYSTEMS

What maintenance does my gate operating system need?

We recommend a yearly Preventative Maintenance schedule for your gate and access systems by one of our highly trained technicians, usually done in the fall. Reliable Door, Fence and Gate Systems personnel will lubricate the movable parts of the system, check the limits and connections and other steps to insure a safely and properly operating system before snow.
